Support vehicle charging applications and advanced multimedia power sharing solutions
Infineon Technologies AG introduces EZ-PD CCG7D, a dual-port USB-C PD (charging) solution that integrates a boost controller for on-board charging applications, complies with the latest USB Type-C and PD3.1 specifications and is AEC Q-100 certified. The USB-C PD solution can be used specifically for automotive applications that support Display port, the USB-C Alternate mode.
Infineon, in partnership with Chinese NEV manufacturer Ideal Automobile, has deployed the solution on its new SUV model Ideal L9, which is not only able to charge electronic devices using a USB interface, but also connects electronic devices to the car for multimedia sharing. In addition, the EZ-PD CCG7D is particularly suitable for in-vehicle charging applications, such as headset chargers, car rear-seat chargers, car rear-seat entertainment systems, etc.

The new EZ-PD CCG7D solution supports both USB-C PD charging and DP port Alternate mode, enabling seamless and robust interoperability between systems in the automotive market. "The Ideal L9 is now the first vehicle in the world to support USB-C PD Alternate mode, which allows users to charge electronic devices and share multimedia content in the car, bringing convenience and a new user experience for passengers and drivers."
The alternate mode solution based on CCG7D is equipped with dual USB-C ports, one of which supports DP-Sink and the other supports DP-Source, so it is possible to create a two-way multimedia entertainment center in the car while charging USB devices. Video can also be transferred from a phone or personal computer (PC) to a car display and/or sent to VR glasses. The CCG7D is highly integrated, effectively reducing BOM costs and board area, and can provide up to 100 W of output power for each port of the solution. In addition to the CCG7D, Infineon can also offer a single-port version of the device, the EZ-PD CCG7S, which also complies with the AEC Q-100 standard.
