Support satellite data connection, global positioning of the demodulator chip

     Qualcomm launched two modem chips for enterprise Internet of Things and satellite industry needs, respectively, 212S, 9205S, both support satellite data connection function, can correspond to independent non-ground network (NTN), with ground network hybrid connection; With ultra-low power consumption, in line with 3GPP Release 17 standards, it can be used for terrestrial synchronous orbit (GEO/GSO) satellite communications to support global positioning. At present, the 9205S chip has entered the market, and the 212S chip will be launched within the year.

     Both chips support the Qualcomm Aware platform, which provides real-time asset tracking and device management services for remote areas. The Qualcomm Aware platform has partnered with Skylo, an NTN service provider, to provide optimized integration for the chip.

     According to the data, the 212S chip is suitable for remote, fixed-location applications, helping to extend the life of the device, including the collection of telemetry data and data from water and fuel tanks, meters and other infrastructure equipment, and can even be used for utility grid monitoring, early fire detection reporting, onshore and offshore mining facilities and environmental management.

     The 9205S chip allows iot devices to connect to cellular and satellite networks, integrating global satellite navigation Systems (GNSS) to provide accurate positioning data. The chip is suitable for cargo and asset equipment in transit, including transoceanic seagoing container tracking, agricultural equipment and livestock tracking, global fleet and freight tracking for supply chain management, and more.
