Microsemi 60W IEEE 802.3at standard Power Over Ethernet (PoE)Midspan series added 24-port products

     Microsemi Corporation announced the expansion of its 60-W Power over Ethernet (PoE) midspan product line with the immediate availability of the 24-port product PD-9524G, extending the benefits of four-pair cable power and gigabit transmission to higher density network deployments. Similar to single-port, 6-port and 12-port products in the same family as the PD95-xx, the PD-9524G midspan delivers up to 60W of power over all four pairs of Ethernet cables with half the power dissipation of traditional two-pair cable solutions, while reducing power consumption by 15%.

     Amir Asvadi, vice president and general manager of the Analog Mixed Signal division at Microsemi Corporation, said: "Now, Meko Semi customers have a complete density choice from single port to 24 port, providing 60W power for a wide range of power supply units. No other 60W power supply solution, regardless of interface technology, offers the same flexibility, low deployment costs, and superior energy efficiency while supporting the combined characteristics of old and new power supplies."

     The PD-9524G midspan uses the same power-saving PoE (EEPoE) technology as Microsemi's newly launched PD-5524G midspan to save energy for devices with power consumption up to 25.5W while complying with the IEE802.at-2009 standard. In addition to improved power efficiency, the PD-95XXG midspan series from Meko SEMi enables users to specify a power supply unit (PD) with a single four-pair line detection interface, improving flexibility in network deployment. Other power supply solutions require expensive dual PD interfaces to provide 60W of power to PD, resulting in high cost, especially in high-density network installations.

     The PD-9524G product, like other 60W Midspans from Microsemi, includes a gigabit interface to more easily support high-power devices such as panel-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and thin clients. It is also possible to implement the dual event classification specified in the IEEE 802.3at technical specification for the communication of connected devices. All members of the PD-95xxG family are designed for applications that power high-power networking devices over Ethernet cables without the need to connect an external AC power supply. These devices also feature patented power technology that supports all legacy PoE devices, providing the most energy efficient solution available. The expanded PD-95xxG series further strengthens the lineup of managed and unmanaged midspan products with multiple port densities.
