Microchip Technology ECC204 security certification IC

     Microchip Technology has released the ECC204 Security Certification IC. The ECC204 security authentication IC is an encryption authentication device that provides protected storage space for private keys, certificates, symmetric keys, or user data. This hardware-based key storage solution supports a range of secure authentication applications, including ecosystem control, one-time and accessory authentication, symmetric authentication using HMAC keys, and selectable one-time applications.

     Microchip ECC204 Security Certification ics provide a powerful authentication solution that provides hardware support for asymmetric authentication, including FIPS186-4 elliptic curve digital signature and NIST standard P-256 Elliptic curve. The ECC204 IC also features a high-quality internal NIST SP 800-90A/B/C random number generator that supports the generation of asymmetric keys.

     This security authentication IC provides hardware support for SHA-256 and HMAC, while its field-programmable electrically erasable Programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) can store a single ECC private key, a single symmetric key, and 64 bytes of user data. The ECC204 IC has an extended industrial-grade temperature range from -40 ° C to +105 ° C and offers compact 8-pad UDFN, 8-pin SOIC and 3-pin contact package options for increased design flexibility.

     The Microchip ECC204 security certification IC is powered by the EV27Y72A 3-pin contact mikroBUS™ socket board. The socket board can be used with any microcontroller board that supports the MikroElektronika mikroBUS interface, and its modular design allows users to reuse it across multiple prototypes and applications. The socket board provides engineers with an easy to use and affordable option to configure and test their devices prior to mass production.
