Infineon enables innovative solutions with advanced technology

     STABL Energy uses Infineon Technologies AG's MOSFET products to cascade the use of retired electric passenger car batteries to create a stationary energy storage system. At present, the first stationary energy storage system pilot projects have been put into use in Germany and Switzerland. The particular advantage of the STABL solution is that used batteries with varying amounts of residual power can be connected to the public grid without the need for a central inverter, even in the case of a large number of used batteries.

Annual losses can be reduced by up to 70% and operating costs and CO2 emissions by 40% compared to conventional systems."

     Now, STABL's first batch of energy storage devices have passed the German CE certification and grid-connection standards, and have achieved grid-connection in Germany. The first installation in Switzerland has also been connected to the grid. In the process of landing, 27 used batteries of Kia vehicles with a rated capacity of 98 KWH were transformed into a temporary solar energy storage system to power residential areas.

     The basic electronic component used in STABL is Infineon's 100V OptiMOS™ 5 MOSFET product. The main reason the company chose Infineon was that it liked the advantages of its products such as low on-resistance, excellent thermal performance and reliability. With the many advantages of Infineon's MOSFET products, the young company enables electric vehicle batteries to have a "second life" after they were initially used to enable electric mobility, causing their charge to decline and be discarded. Waste batteries can therefore continue to be used for a long time and play an important "role" of the intermediate energy storage system of the green electricity supply chain.
