     Wurth Electronics introduces a new family of thin film capacitors designed specifically for DC link applications. The WCAP-FTDB series of components can be used in the voltage range of 500 to 1200 V, with a high ripple current capability. As such, they are particularly suitable for AC/DC and DC/DC converters used in charging systems and power electronics in electric vehicles or renewable energy solutions. The product family consists of 24 models with capacitance values from 1 μF to 75 μF.

     These capacitors can be used to stabilize the DC link voltage, and they are very stable and reliable. Due to the design of the metallized polypropylene film, they have self-healing properties, and in the event of a short circuit, they can "burn off" the part of themselves that caused the short circuit, thus restoring the complete dielectric. Compared to other types of capacitors, the WCAP-FTDB series is significantly more durable and suitable for applications with long maintenance cycles such as wind turbines.

     Wurth Electronics offers THT cartridge packages with pitches of 27.5 mm, 37.5 mm and 52.5 mm for this component product family. The operating temperature range of the film capacitor is -40°C to 105°C, and the operating temperature can be up to 85°C at the corresponding maximum voltage value.
