     STMicroelectronics HVLED101 flyback controller is suitable for LED lamps up to 180W. It integrates various functions, control patented technology and primary detection voltage regulator support to help improve lighting performance and simplify lamp circuit design. The controller provides all the necessary built-in protection functions, including overcurrent protection, input overvoltage protection, and power failure protection. Intelligent Automatic Overload Timer (ART) allows all protection mechanisms to operate without latches, ensuring excellent lighting reliability and superior user experience.

     HVLED101 is a new member of the STMicroelectronics HVLED series of high power factor controllers. The integrated 800V startup circuit can reduce the LED lighting time to less than 250ms. High voltage input detection circuits and maximum power control (MPC) engines ensure stable power output when mains voltage fluctuates, allowing designers to choose smaller, less costly external passive components to handle harsh mains conditions. The primary detection voltage regulator without isolated feedback further reduces the material cost and improves the reliability of the drive circuit.

     The input current shaping algorithm of STMicroelectronics is a patented innovative technology that reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) and maximizes power factor correction. In addition, the HVLED101 is the first high power factor flyback controller using STMicro's newly developed valley locking technology, which minimizes audible noise, improves voltage stabilization performance, and reduces total harmonic distortion. In the steady state of quasi-resonant operation, the valley locking method locks the number of valleys skipped until the output power or input voltage changes significantly. Current shaping combined with trough locking can improve power factor and THD distortion even under low and medium load conditions. Using the flyback converter controlled by HVLED101, THD is 5% at full load and 10% at 1/3 load, conforming to the world's major eco-design codes.

     In addition, in pure quasi-resonant operation mode, the designer can set the delay time after zero crossing detection with an external resistor. By ensuring that the grid is on at the lowest point of the trough, HVLED101 minimizes energy loss and electromagnetic radiation (EMI). Overall, HVLED101 allows the converter to achieve a maximum energy efficiency of more than 90% and less than 100mW of no-load power.

     To help developers speed up the development cycle and shorten the time to market of terminal products, STMicroelectronics provides two HVLED101 functional demonstration boards. EVLHV101PSR50W is a 90-265VAC, 60V/0.8A primary detection voltage stabilizer isolation flyback converter, and EVLHV101SSR50W and EVLHV101PSR50W design is the same, the difference is the secondary detection voltage stabilizer.
